Tips & Tricks to Toe Nail Trims

Plenty of dogs are highly resistant of the dreaded nail trim!  Dogs do need their nails trimmed regularly to prevent overgrowth – which can be very painful.  If you want to try to do your dog’s nails at home, here’s a video with some tips!

Not sure your pup can handle a nail trim at home?  Take her to the vet! Veterinary technicians are often to make the process faster and many dogs are more tolerant of “strangers” cutting their nails than their mom’s and dad’s. (They’re thinking, you’re my mom and dad! You’re not supposed to annoy or hurt me! Stop it!)  In between nail cuttings, be sure to play with your dog’s paws to help desensitize them from nail trims.

At Emerald Animal Hospital, our staff includes trained veterinary technicians who would be happy to trim your pet’s nails.  Our groomer, Briana, would also to set up an appointment to trim your pet’s nails – and she also offers nail polish services!  Contact us at 216-688-3737 to set up an appointment for your dog!
